New Townsville Office Opens Up Apprenticeship Opportunities

Media Release — 24 September 2009

Businesses across Townsville wanting access to government subsidies and other assistance to take-on an apprentice or trainee now have access to an increased range of options with today’s opening of the new Skill360 Australia office in Townsville. The state’s largest not-for-profit group training organisation, Skill360 Australia was founded in Queensland’s north twenty-five years ago.

“Skill360 Australia’s new office in Townsville presents local business with ready access to subsidies to take on an apprentice or trainee. We make apprenticeships easy for business by helping them find a suitable candidate, and in providing assistance to comple the complex government paperwork,” said Troy Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Skill360 Australia.

Skill360 Australia has a strong commitment in Townsville, reflected in the organisation being the major sponsor of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce.

“The Townsville Chamber of Commerce and Skill360 Australia share a commitment to helping local businesses succeed. Although the current economic downturn has reduced pressures associated with the recent skills shortage, both the Chamber and Skill360 Australia are committed to helping business get access to qualified tradespeople when the economic recovery gets underway,” Mr Williams said.

Skill360 Australia’s links with the local community is also reflected in the partnership that exists with the Australian Technical College (ATC) North Queensland. Both organisations have teamed-up to provide ATC North Queensland students with ongoing employment opportunities in a range of trades in the construction, automotive and manufacturing industries across Townsville.

“Our work with the ATC North Queensland reflects our commitment to doing the right thing by local business, providing them with access to quality apprentices and trainees,” Mr Williams said.

For businesses in Townsville wanting to take on an apprentice or trainee, the new Skill360 Australia office in Townsville saves them time and money – Skill360 Australia make apprenticeships easy.

“Skill360 Australia helps businesses in Townsville, both large and small, take on an apprentice for a few months or the duration of their training. We take care of complicated issues such as interpreting Awards, calculating leave entitlements and managing training schedules.” Mr Williams said.

Skill360 Australia offers these services as a government-endorsed Group Training Organisation, and has twenty-five years experience in making apprenticeships easy for businesses in Queensland’s north.
