CEO's Principals Round Table
As the nation's leading apprenticeship and training provider, Skill360 Australia is a proud supporter of initiatives that break-down barriers between the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and the secondary school sector. To this end Skill360 Australia proactively promotes school-based traineeships that combine paid work, training and school, allowing secondary school students to an industry recognised national qualification.
To ensure success in this area, the Chief Executive Officer of Skill360 Australia established the CEO's Principals Round Table to identity opportunities to increase the uptake of school-based traineeships and maximise outcomes for all participants.
The CEO's Principals Round Table has no fixed agenda, rather it looks at emerging trends and what opportunities these present for schools that have a demonstrated commitment to integrating vocational education and training as part of their mainstream curriculum.
The CEO's Principal's Round Table meets every three months and the agenda for each meeting is set by the Principals themselves. Issues discussed include initiatives to promote school-based traineeships, building links between schools and industry and developing career paths for students who successfully complete their school-based traineeship.
Membership of the CEO's Principal's Roundtable is by invitation only and membership is limited to a maximum of ten Principals, drawn from both the government and non-government school sector. Meetings are chaired by a senior Principal who has a demonstrated commitment to school-based traineeships in the mainstream secondary school curriculum.
A school-based traineeship is important as they give students a head start in their career, a head start in an apprenticeship and a head start for higher-level VET sector qualifications.
