Students & School Based Apprenticeships
Before making a decision, you should think about the type of environment you would like to work in (for example, outdoors, in an office) and the things that interest you. But don't let this daunt you as school-based Apprenticeships are a great way to kick-start a career. You may also have heard of this type of training as an Australian School-based Apprenticeship (ABSA) or School Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs) in education techno-babble.
Your vocational education coordinator at your school will be able to align the skills you would like to learn with the right school-based apprenticeship for you. They will also be able to explain the types of school-based apprenticeships and traineeships available and the subjects you could study at school to complement your school-based apprenticeship or traineeship.

Once you have thought about these questions, you need to advise your career counselor/vocational education coordinator at your school that you would like to get involved in a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship. They will assist you decide what school-based apprenticeship or traineeship you would like to do - there are around 700 different apprenticeships and traineeships so you have a lot of choice.
The process isn't as complex as it first looks and school-based apprenticeships and traineeships are a great way to move from school to work.
