Construction Safety White Card
CPCWHS1001 - Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to undertake Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training within the construction industry.
This qualification has replaced CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry as of 7 April 2022. A transition period applies to enable current students to complete their study. The transition period finishes on 6 April 2023. If required, enrolments will be transitioned into the replacement unit of competency.
For students eligible for CSQ funding, CSQ funds $120 and the total fee payable by the student is $10. For all other students the cost is $80

This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work.
The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
This course must be delivered face-to-face in Queensland, subject to the exemption for students residing in a rural area who may receive training delivered electronically via online delivery. A rural area is considered 100 kilometres or more from any RTO offering face-to-face delivery of this unit.
COURSE OVERVIEW
Face-to-face delivery.
6 hours (8am – 2.30pm).
COURSE FEES
$10 for persons eligible for CSQ funding.
Normal cost for other participants $80 or $50 for high school students.
