Certificate III in Cabinet Making is divided into two components that include 8 core units and 17 elective units completed over a normal duration of 42 – 48 months.

Overview

While undertaking Cabinet Making and Timber Technology – MSF30322, you will learn basic foundations and skills to manufacture and fit kitchen and bathroom furniture.
These learned skills can then be applied to both new and restorative work. You will also further learn about safe work practices and the context of the building industry.

Duration & Delivery Mode

We expect students to complete their apprenticeship within 48 months (4 years). However, it’s expected the duration will be within 42 months (3.5 years).

Course Deliverables & Specifications

Delivered under the Australian Apprenticeship Program, Skill360 requires applicants to be a minimum age of 13 years old to undertake this training opportunity. You must be employed in an apprenticeship to participate in this training program.

School-based students who aren’t enrolled in years 10, 11 or 12 may be eligible to enter a school-based traineeship. For eligibility, students are required to have exceptional circumstances to warrant consideration, along with meeting all other entry requirements, including being of an age where it is legal to undertake paid employment.

Equipment Requirements

Each trainee needs to supply their own paper, pen and calculator, along with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including:

  • Protective footwear
  • Long-sleeve shirt
  • Hearing protection
  • Safety glasses

These are critical to fulfilling your role successfully and safely, as well as meeting WH&S requirements.

Delivery Modes

A substantial amount of work is done via on-the-job experiences during our cabinet making courses. These outcomes can be completed in a full-time or part-time capacity, including school-based modes. During specified block release components, students will be released from work to attend class.

Course Fee & Funding

This qualification is delivered under the Australian Apprenticeship Program. The student contribution to fees is currently $1451.20 for non-concession students and $580.48 for concession students (dependent on electives chosen). A payment schedule can be arranged over the duration of the course.

Students must be employed in an apprenticeship to undertake this training program. A range of independent and government funding may be available for eligible students, including User Choice Funding or Fee-Free Training for year 12 graduates, to substantially help to subsidise the cost of training. For non-funded students, the total fee is $13,401.20 ($536.05 per unit).
