Certificate III in Cabinet Making is divided into two components that include 6 core units and 22 elective units completed over a normal duration of 42 – 48 months.

This unit empowers all students to learn how to effectively communicate in the workplace with colleagues and industry stakeholders. From face-to-face communication to digital mediums, understanding how to communicate and collaborate within the workplace is a critical skillset that is transferable across industries and sites.
This unit teaches students how to work collaboratively in a team to effectively and safely work on-site. By understanding the different work styles of each team mate and how to leverage different strengths, students will understand the skills and knowledge needed to enter the workforce or transition to a new job.
This unit covers the skills, knowledge, and practical applications needed to safely and effectively use the tools used in the furniture making industry. Including both hand-work and power tools, students will learn the basics of handling, using, and storing furniture making tools so they can navigate their workplace with confidence and ease.
This unit will cover the skills, knowledge, and practical applications of the expected carpentry measurements and calculations when working in cabinet making. A transferable skill across different construction styles, the topics covered in this unit will be applicable to your professional regardless of your area of carpentry expertise.
This unit covers the basics of reading and interpreting key industry documents including WHS policies, employment contracts, supplier contracts, and more. Students will be familiarised with the most common workplace paperwork used in the carpentry industry so they can transition into the workforce with ease.
With the opportunity to complete their course on-site, students will work their way through the required subjects while adopting hands-on, practical experience. Open to people enrolled in an Australian Apprenticeship program, students will conduct most of their course requirements on-site under the supervision of their employer with regular visits from trainers to assess their progress.

We expect students to complete their apprenticeship within 48 months (4 years). However, it’s expected the duration will be within 42 months (3.5 years).
Delivered under the Australian Apprenticeship Program, Skill360 requires applicants to be a minimum age of 13 years old to undertake this training opportunity. You must be employed in an apprenticeship to participate in this training program.
School-based students who aren’t enrolled in years 10, 11 or 12 may be eligible to enter a school-based traineeship. For eligibility, students are required to have exceptional circumstances to warrant consideration, along with meeting all other entry requirements, including being of an age where it is legal to undertake paid employment.

A substantial amount of work is done via on-the-job experiences during our cabinet making courses. These outcomes can be completed in a full-time or part-time capacity, including school-based modes. During specified block release components, students will be released from work to attend class.
This qualification is delivered under the Australian Apprenticeship Program. The student contribution to fees is currently $1600 for non-concession students and $640 for concession students. A payment schedule can be arranged over the duration of the course.
Students must be employed in an apprenticeship to undertake this training program. A range of independent and government funding may be available for eligible students, including User Choice Funding or Fee-Free Training for year 12 graduates, to substantially help to subsidise the cost of training. Employers may contribute to your fees in some cases; however, this shouldn’t be expected, and other options should be considered first.
