Reshma is completing a traineeship in the industry she loves, thanks to Skill360

Like most career paths, Reshma’s took some twist and turns but the one thing that has always supported her and guided on the next step, was her love of learning new skills.

After leaving school, Reshma’s working career began in hospitality, working as a bartender in Cairns. While working in hospitality, Reshma also decided to start a university degree, completing a Bachelor of Creative Arts. After graduating with a degree, Reshma also began a Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical), which she is due to finish in a few months.

Enjoying her Business Administration studies Reshma decided to apply for a Business Administration Traineeship with Skill360, a Group Training Organisation who successfully placed Reshma with host employer Art Work Spaces in Cairns.

Since January this year Reshma has been working as the Receptionist at Art Work Spaces, while also completing a Business Administration qualification, meaning Reshma is now completing two qualifications and managing to take it all in her stride!

“From the beginning of my traineeship through Skill 360 with Art Work Spaces I was welcomed with open arms and treated like one of their own. I am so grateful to have a manager like Gregor Davie who is very supportive and invested in my growth at Art Work Spaces.  The best part of my job is getting to know all the clients, from a range of business backgrounds.

“My position as Receptionist is varied and I get to utilise my skills from my University Degree, including photography, graphic design and communications”, Reshma said of her current host employer.

Skill360, a Registered Training Organisation, has a Trade Training Centre at their site in Manunda and this is where Reshma undertakes regular training days, which she finds valuable. The training days are to work on eLearning modules required to complete her qualification and the trainer is there to support Reshma if she has any questions about the training modules.

“Skill360 has been supportive throughout my Traineeship. The Skill360 Mentors are always there if you need to discuss any problems or just have a general inquiry, they are always happy to see you and check on your progress”, Reshma said of the trainers.

Mike Bareham, CEO of Skill360, stated “A traineeship is an excellent way to learn while you earn and make connections with industry employers. Skill360 encourage the development of careers for our community members through offering a range of employment support and training services. We look forward to assisting Reshma in her promising career path”.

Skill360 is a Group Training Organisation and licensed for Labour Hire, acting as the employer for apprentices or trainees who are placed with host employers. Taking care of all the paperwork, Skill360 also offer ongoing support and mentoring to ensure the apprentice or trainee performs well in their role and successfully completes their qualification.
